Hi, I have a 1986 300gd and I am struggleing with vibration especially at above 100km/h which makes it very nousy in the car. I have had all the drive shafts balanced by a specialist company, new transfer case mountings fitted, but still the vibration persists. Any idess what can cause this?

I take it when you feel the transfer case it is shaking a bit? Propshaft phasing is usually to blame. Then tyres and wheel balancing. There should be a few posts about correct angles of phrasing on props.

Take off the front shaft and drive it without. Put transfer case lever into SA before driving.

It is the most common culprit.

I concur with Andrew. I had the same issue, went to 40th celebration and it finally packe up just outside Vryburg. Big thanks to Pierre and Alan for helping me out. Replace the front propshaft and now runs smooth without vibration and noise. Driveline Technologies.
