    Hi All

In my search for a PTO drive shaft I came across the Surplus Warehouse out in Donkerhoek, Pretoria (for the closet Landy fans on the forum - Surplus Warehouse is located where Belltrade used to be).

They have a large inventory of spare parts for 406/416 mogs - although many parts are used parts, they also have a large selection of NOS parts (new old stock), meaning brand new parts that have never been used.

They gave me a brief tour of the warehouse and I was properly drooling before I even got halfway through... Some of the parts I remember included - pto gearboxes, pto spline blocks, new instrument clusters, bearings galore, brake pads (both disc and drum brakes), water pumps, gearbox mounts, complete engins and many more parts that I can't remember now.

So if you're in the process of rebuilding a mog, or are looking for some part to repair/improve your mog, it may be well worth giving them a call. Their contact details are on the pic below

Ps - it seems Mike Holleis used to be a customer of theirs ;-)

    What happened to Belltrade?
The were known for Landy parts although they seemed not to really want to sell anything.

Don't know Alan - they either moved or closed down.

    Since I wasn't looking LR parts I didn't ask

Thanks for sharing Paul ! How come we only now hear of this source?

Someone also told Stefan at CITP of someone who bought a huge stack of NOS Mog tyres at a recent local army sale.

According to Belltrade's FB, (https://www.facebook.com/Belltrade-Land-Rover-Parts-and-Rebuilds-281120278679679/) they moved earlier this year and is now at "Plot 365 of 367 MOOIPLAATS/DONKERHOEK".

Interesting, since British 4x4 (https://www.british4x4.co.za/eng/) is at 367 MOOIPLAATS, Boschkop. I have been to this one last year and it has plenty Landy stock - and a Mog with crane working in their workshops.

    Hallo Paul,
Does the brake pads from 416 and 1300L are the same? Because I've got the 1300 and my pads makes a lot of noise.

To the best of my knowledge they are the same. The front brake calipers are also the same, but the rear calipers are different.

Best would be to confirm with MB re part number.

I've read of anti vibration shims that helps for brake noise. They fit between the brake pads and the pistons of the calipers. Never seen them myself, but they apparently help...

    Hi Paul,
the problem is that the new pads haven't got asbestos in. And therefore I am looking for the old ones.

I have fitted such anti-squeal plates (from Mercedes-Benz) on my Unimog, and can report a small, but not dramatic, improvement in braking noise.

Wow Paul, thank you so much for sharing this resource!! I'm definitely going to find out what goodies they have.
Did you come right with the PTO drive shaft in the end?

    That's fantastic news! Congratulations!
When you're done, are we having a Werner F64 tug-of-war to celebrate? ;-)

No problem... we unwind mine, and stick mine's end of it into yours... it is a tug-of-war, after all!
