Hi all

Per the subject line, can anyone let me know where I can find new engine mountings for my 1982 300GD?

Thanks

Hi Christiaan, you know that the 230 mounts are the same as the Ssang Yong 290 Sport mounts. I got some from Korean Motor Spares in Edenvale @ about R750 a pair.
Granted they are not colour coded and don't have a Merc stamp on them but I have used them successfully in my 290 and now the past 50kkm in my Red G.

Yes, thanks Alan. I already replaced the 230's mounts with the SsangYong ones thanks to your advice. Now I need the old style mountings for my 300GD.

I have ordered the mountings from a Mercedes dealer. One side was in stock and the other is being imported from Germany.

I'm surprised they available now - the early type (pre 1982) were not available anywhere recently. What year chassis is it for?

This is an 82 with what I understand to be the earlier type of mountings. I hope they've ordered the correct ones; they were very $pendy.

What G are you taking to Molototsi Christian?

I want to take the diesel, but at this stage it looks like we'll be in the 230.

Diesel is getting a new exhaust made at the moment, then next weekend Dirk will help me install the new engine mountings and try to find the source of front end shakes. I also need to devise a means to seal the shift levers and insulate under the centre console. If I get it all done in time, the we'll take the 300GD.

Peter's post about availability got me worried.

I'm still waiting for the one that needs to be imported, but the one that's already been delivered has part number A 460 242 08 13.

Left and right mounting have different part numbers. It looks like the ones in the car, but I'm can't be certain without removing the old ones.

Can anyone confirm if that part number is correct for a 1982 300GD?

Thanks Arnold

The parts guys were adamant there were different part numbers left and right. I see the one I have has a part number with one digit difference to what you shared above.
A 460 242 05 13 vs A 460 242 08 13

I don't know the part number on the one we're still waiting for,

Does anyone know details regarding the old style mountings and what differences there are?

the later, box type mountings have different part numbers as you can order the rubber with a different hardness. possibly the same the with older mounts. I hope you get sorted in time, either way, it going to be great having you along for the trip

So I checked this Russian website that Alan sent me: https://www.ilcats.ru/mercedes/?language=en

It shows there are left and right versions of the early mountings:
A4602420513, RH mounting
A4602421013 LH mounting

The A4602420813 that MB already delivered is the new part number for the RH mounting. I'll post part number here when they've delivered the LH mounting.

So I have both mountings in hand.

LH mounting is as listed above A4602421013
RH mounting received is A4602420813, which seems to have superseded A4602420513

So it's confirmed:
1. That Mercedes still supplies these mountings
2. That although the mountings look similar, there are different part numbers left and right. I assume they have different rubber composition, either because of the torsional stresses caused by engine torque, or because the RH mounting sits next to the exhaust.
