Peter,

There is also a Service Measure applicable to the same vehicles which may or may not have already been applied in SA. It relates to the sealing of the Airbox.

The relevant numbers are:

SM2704 Replace airbox cap seal
RC2666 Retrofit modified Brake Line

I hope that this helps.

Thanks John , do you have any more information regards these failures in order that owners can perhaps do inspection themselves? Many of us do not trust a dealer to do this correctly

No further information at this stage other than it relating to a brake line going into the ABS unit being affected by continual vibration.. My Professional is going in for these 'fixes' on Monday. I will let you know if I can find out more.

We have had one member who found problems with the downward facing seal on his original air filter which prevented it making an effective seal. The problem seemed to be with the MB filter rather than the airbox itself but I am nor sure if this is the reason for the Service Measure. Anecdotally MB Australia have had to replace some engines on some of the local government firefighting cab chassis vehicles due to to excessive dust ingestion. So whether that has something to do with it ...I don't know. I will see if I can find out more on Monday.

I thought I had remembered that issue from here as well, which is why I thought the Service Measure may have already been applied in SA. By the way a correction to my previous post - my vehicle is being looked at on Tuesday, not Monday as previously reported.

While i owned my 2012 G300CDi I witnessed this myself - signs of dust on the bottom part of the box and one time time (not too long after driving through a heavy rainstorm - but not sure if it was related) the filter element partly collapsed obviously allowed dirty air in. It was noted when the check engine light came on and the fault code pointed to a dirty air cleaner - it was the same code we got when the seal on the connector pipe between the hose from the intercooler to the turbo failed
MBSA just shrugged their shoulders about my concern which i raised in writing

Well I just got my G300 back from the recall and while the Service Advisor quickly went through the pages of the Recall procedure with me, he would not give me a copy. They replaced a brake line with part number A4614201700 - a flexible brake line and another brake line A4614201800 plus a bracket or two.

The Service Measure was just a new seal (A64209603028) in the upper half (lid) of the Air Cleaner housing.

Those parts are not listed on Xentry - not sure what happens if you need to replace one afterwards!

A couple of photos of the new ABS Lines.

I couldn't see much difference in the Air-box Seal. The first photo is the old - the second the new.
