All terrain tyres for 19 inch GL?

Does anyone know if there is an All Terrain tyre available for a GL500 (19 Inch) rim?

Tyre size 275/55R19- GL and G55.
No AT tyres what I know off.

Pirelli ATR and GY MT/R avialable in size 255/55R19.

Overseas you get GL with 18" rims. First confirm with MB that they will fit. More offroad tyres avialable in size 265/60R18. Also size for new G350 Bluetec.

(G and GL rims have different PCD's)

OEM tyre size for GL is 275/55R19.

255/55R19 is 22mm smaller in diameter and is OEM tyre size for Discovery 4.

Good Question. If you look at the design of the GL with the complete offroad package, you will see that it is capable of anything that the traditional 'harcore' 4X4's can do except that you are restricted only by the current available tyres. I do some Nature Photography (you can check out my website doupienaar.co.za) which sometimes can take me to places like the Kalahari and Northern Botswana (dry and wet) where the roads can be a challenge. Unlike the Americans who like a GL for city driving as an 'Urban assualt' vehicle, I bought the vehicle for the bush and I use it as such. Getting there I can travel on the tar road, fully loaded at +140km's per hour and enjoy about 14l/100kms. Your comments are welcome.

If I were you I would investigate fitting 18" that will maintain your current wheel diameter (avoid issues with odometer/speedo errors and potential ABS/ESP issues). Keep the 19"'s for cruising around town/tar road work.

for 18" options. Seems like you could get a set for R12k plus shipping.

Do you have a full size spare wheel mounted? I imagine 19" GL tyres are hard to come by in those parts?

I think the GL must be an über-cruiser! I do about 14l/100km in my G300D but you have at least 200kWs on me!

200kilowatts and the absolute luxury for the bush that I wanted when I acquired this vehicle. If you go to the 'Snaps' page on my website you will see exactly how I carry the full size spare. Not pretty but it works for me. I have had to 'fly-in' a rim and tire to the bush before but I can live with that.

Last time I was in the Kalahari I had to fix my Ml270CDI with Pratleys quick steel and witblits! Good times! I hope to visit in my G sometime soon.
