    Dan's pickup project

In May 2009 I gave my son Dan all the leftover G bits I have here after we decided it was possible to build a pickup for him. So the BIG STRIP happened and then he started to assemble - first the chassis - a 240 GD with 5.33 diffs and now he has started the body. All with a measure of help from anyone he can get free labout from!

But so far so good - he has done it well and thoroughly and just maybe he will finish before May this year. I will keep you posted.

    Re: Dan's pickup project

This weekend we put a battery onto the chassis, tied 5 liters of diesel onto it and off it went. It starts and runs ok but looks like a highveld grass fire!. The smoke may be a bit injectors, but does have quite a lot of blow by so maybe its more than that.

The body is still off - the rear window is in and we are now busy with the rear firewall and the tailgate. We decided to make a new sill with flip down hinges at the back instead of a swing out arrangement which would have been the easiest, but you cant sit on it and drink beer.......

It is comiing together quite nicely. More photos next session.

Hi Andrew, how is the pick-up coming on? My 240GD is now a 230 Ge but still some things to sort out. I love these restoration jobbies, unfortunately don't have enough time. Please keep us updated.
    Chris.
