    Re: My "G"

Here are some pics. I have done 70 000 km with my G in Kosi Bay and surrounds after buying it from A Hall. Less than 20% were done on tar (i am being generous). It rusted so bad, the morning mist, that I had to cut it up all the time until I could get a new body. Now I store it under a roof.

That is the air conditioning hose ... As far as I know that is the stock skid plate - I'll have to go take a look at the trucks side by side and see if there is any evidence that the German owner did shorten it ...

I looked when I was out washing the mud off - It does look like the back edge of the skid plate was shortened. I still have not crawled under the '02 truck to see how different the plates may be ...

I did it and then Andre Scheepers, the owner of the workshop in Kosi Bay, where I worked on the car took one look and told me to start sanding again! He redid my painting.

    Re: My "G"

    Hi to all!!!
my name is Bakogiannis Tsabikos and i live in Rhodes/Greece.
february '09 i bought a ex border police 290GDT in scrap condition and i am slowly-slowly trying to get it back in running order...what a job that is!! anyway sorted most of the problems and went for a drive last week it felt fantastik driving a G-wagen again after 17 years!!

    i got new tires yokohama 315/75/16 on procomp 1069 10X16 alloys ET-24
new ring & pinion 4.88 to replace the current 3.72 so that i compensate for the change in tire size (from 28,9" to 34,6")
overhead console from african outback on its way so is the front winch bumper!!
wheel spacers 40mm changing the bolt pattern from Mercedes to Suzuki on the way to!
my car electrician had to replace most part of the electrics & wireing , doing a good job so far.
only downside the immobilizer it just kicks in from time to time just to wipe the grin from my face.
anyway cant be bothered with the immobilizer so i send the ECU to a friend in Athens to remove it now we wait and see i am receiving the ECU on wednesday i keep u posted

    Re: My "G"

    Hi Bakos,
Welcome to the forum, I believe that the reason that the G was produced with a large front windscreen (larger then the LR) was to accommodate the "Big" smile of the driver!!!
Nice "tackies & rims", now how about a nice pick of the full tuck ...... maybe with a full smile?
    Good luck, Michel
