Thanks Danie, I saw them when I googled the cv joints. look good, I am just not sure that I want to spend over $600 (with P&P) on a cv joint.
Euro truck has OEM CVs for $380, I chatted to Sean and he said it would cost $41 to post it to me, but we can't be sure how long it would take. Trevor, down on the South Coast said I can have a second-hand one from him for R2,500 and I could get that up here before Monday.
Hi there,
In June this year, it was necessary to replace both cv joints on my 460. The MB price for the PARTS alone was in excess of R30k. The guy I have been using for my G repairs , here in Tzaneen, sourced me a new set, from a German factory at approk R7.5k for the pair. ( supplied ex Jhb) The total repair cost me just over R12k.
If you are interested, let me know and I will see the guy tomorrow ( Monday) and confirm a price for a unit for you,
regards,
Charles
Hi All,
I have done some searching and have made contact with two European businesses. Guido Matthes from industrytools.de has been most helpful and has the CV joint kits for Eur199.00 through Ebay, or Eur180.00 if you buy direct from his business. Priority airmail is Eur62 for a 5kg container, so there is still some space to fit other things as well, the rest of his stock is not priced very well though
The other guy is Franco Böhme from www.g-manufaktur.de also offering OEM CVs for Eur199. Although he does not accept Paypal as payment.
I have been in touch with Sean from Eurotruck-importers.com, they have the most extensive parts listing but their CVs are $380, or Eur254, which is a pity as I could certainly order more other parts from his store. :P
I am going to order the kit from Guido and have Dirk Wentzel assist in installing them for me. If anyone wants anything from industrytools.de, mail me or call me and I will happily include it in my shipment. I am looking to place my order in the next day or so and have 3kg spare in the box that I am already paying for.
I will post something under General to let you know how it went.
regards
Antony
Hi Anthony,
How did it go and are the CV's what you expected?
I am now looking for a CV. I had to leave my G in Ladysmith after returning from Sanio Pass this weekend.
Require a CV urgently so I can go fix and collect my G.
I was fortunate to know someone in Ladysmith so she will be looked after until I can fetch her.

I have a head only if you want to have it just to come home withOriginally Posted by Alan Hüsgen
Hi Andrew,
What happened this time is the nuts are still together with the lock washer but the stub axle broke off just by the nuts.
I would prefer to tow it with a moby jack or trailer before making makeshift repairs and possibly getting stuck again. Thanks for the offer I will keep it in mind. The head is the part with the stub axle right?
Hi Alan,
I have one CV that is still fine, I replaced both at the same time. You will need a boot and grease though, I don't have any of those.
The whole ordering process went quite well, except for a minor delay at customs. Guido had not included the invoice, and instead of contacting me or him, Customs decided to wait for me to get back from holiday and inquire about the status of my order before proclaiming that they needed a missing document.
The link to the website is higher up this thread. I spoke to three suppliers and Guido had the best price by far and very friendly service.
The CV joints themselves are OEM as are the rubber boots, a fact which impressed Dirk. A boot from MBSA will set you back around R800, apparently there are Audit boots that will fit but they dont last nearly as long. Dirk could give you more details.
Let me know if you want the CV, even if just to use until you can get a replacement part.
regards
Antony
Hi Anthony,
Thanks for the offer I will kep it in mind.
My first choice at this time is to get the vehicle ip here by trailer or MobiJack or similar.
If that idea fails I will take you up on the offer.
How long did you wait for the CV's?
What was the final landed cost?
MB quoted me R13159.00 today but it included the sideshaft which you must take.![]()
