And that after it had been to Lesotho a few times as well.

15 years plus I wowed never to buy Good Year again because I had really bad service from them and it is still in my mind. Was (note was) contemplating giving them a chance again, but the more I think about it the more the LTX M/S becomes my only choice.
I read good reports about the GY Duratec and AT/SA.

Now I might be off topic and out of line: the AT/SA is produced in South Africa, creating jobs for our own people( not that this will help you when you are stranded with a flat tyre?)

    Hmm,

They all look good except the M/S.

But there is now the Geolandar G012? coming in at a very competitive price is it worth it?

    Alan

I have (Sorry to say this!) the G12's on my 200VX and are very impressed with it. As long as I stay out of the mud! Road holding very good wet and dry and although I do not really do Off Roading with it is used a lot on gravel roads and farm roads. One puncture in 3 years with 57000 k's on. Looking at it I should very easy get 80 to 90 000 k's on it.

    Worth looking at I believe.

    Re: New tyres

    Been doing some testing.

The original (vehicle bought with 205R16) tyres were too small. The speedo was overreading by miles. (sorry km's)
Replaced the 205's with 245/75R16's What a difference and still driveable. Speedo still over reading but only by maybe 4%.

Replaced again with 235/85R16 and it is stil OK. That is the pull away seems a little strained but once going it sometimes seems better than 245/75's but othertimes worse. I was considering what will happen when towing my trailer/caravan. I would like to remain in 4th (strogest Gear 1:1) but with 245's will be doing 100km [at] 3600rpm. With 235/85's this can go up to 110 at the same sort of rpm. However more strain when pulling away.

So all in all I am tending towards 245/75R16.

    Now the next question:
245/75R16 and 215/85R16 have the same diameter ie the side wall is the same only the thread width is different.

What would be the better tyre to go for? 215 less rolling resistance....
Deflating both should give the same footprint length but the 245 I expect to get better footprint.

    What are your thoughts?
