    Re: 50ppm vs 500ppm Diesel

    Jinne...

I'm not sure if my feedback is relevant, but I started using the 50ppm diesel a while ago and I had no problem. Then one day, I parked my G at a friends house (sharp incline) and when I got to it a few hours later, the engine would not start. After cranking if for quite a while, it eventually started. It has done the same to me a few times since then and every time it is when I have parked on an incline.

I spoke to someone who told me that there is a problem with the non-return valve, and I have fitted a non-return valve in the line going to the IP but it is still happening!

I'm not sure of my facts, but I was thinking that the 50ppm fuel may have detrimentally effected some of the seals on the IP. But that is just my thinking...

    Regards,

    Arnold

Arnold before you sweat! Try parking nose down and see if it still does it.

Otherwise AFAIK these three things can cause this:

    1. Fuel filter or pre filter dirty
    2. Hand operated lift pump (with little non return valves in it.)
    3. There is a sieve at the bottom of your fuel sender / fuel pickup unit which is dirty.

    Andrew

Parking nose down is not a problem.

The filter gets replaced every 5000 km and is now due again so I'll do that as a matter of course.

I have been pumping that little lifter pump without much success, so I would think that it might be the culprit! I will have it looked at.

I'll also take out the sender unit and clean out to make sure that there's no problem there as well. Luckily all these things are fairly easy to do! Will let you know what the outcome is.

    Thanks for the help.

    Regards,

    Arnold

It's odometer is just short of 50 000 km and if 5000 km was done on 50ppm diesel, that would be over-exaggeration, because where he dwells 50ppm diesel is not heard of, seriously... they don't know about it.
MBSA has not given him any trouble with his services, and his car hasn't ether.

I think we all are underestimating these machines' tolerance more than we should.
I will be interested to know the progress of this. Could be interesting for prospective G350BT buyers (same motor). 50k km is not enough to see any signs. I will be intersted to know about turbo, injector, fueling and exhaust/cat. problems after 120k kms.

Let's see at about 150 000km what's the condition of the injectors
