If its just wet or with a few drops of oil having dropped overnight then leave it. It can remain like that for years.

I wish, but unfortunately I have to go south this year, but hopefully it's another awesome experience as always.
Next year, north as far as I shouldn't go!

A guy offered to do it for me for under R2000 if I sell him my old oil pump, do you think it is a good idea and what is the price of a second hand oil pump?

R2000 is worth it. Would you ever have used that oilpump again?

I don't hope that I would need it again, but you know Murphy, he knows how to get me, and get me good. I just wanted to know how often does these pumps break and what is the availability and damage should I ever need a new one.

Well - when I overhauled my 300GD, I kept the old pump. I just don't think they pack up very often!

If your new one packs up, let me know and I will send my old one. I have no idea in what condition it is though. I just replaced as a matter of course!

    Regards,

    Arnold

Dirk Wentzel did mine for less than that about three weeks ago.
