    Not to fix, just precautionary rebuild. Already disassembled and found the top gasket was blown, no damage to head though.

    I sourced new pistons sealed in M-B boxes and got the quote of R35k after supplying pistons. Not going to critisize the price. These are from M-B qualified mechanics with decades experience and I'm sure that engine would come out and last 20years...

    Just not viable. Choose the alternative of getting a good runner for half price or less more.

    So... How is the OM603 fitment wise? ...

    Saw a few G's with that motor at the helderberg event...

    The last time I bought 617 pistons they came from Kolbenschmidt (ADE packaging) and were dirt cheap. So were the sleeves.

    Try Alert Engine Spares.

    That engine was built at Atlantis.

    Pistons are not that cheap, old style were around R500 ea a few years ago and new style ones around R800 then. I don't believe the 617's fitted to G 's or the sedans were built at ADE -only engines destined for govt inspired light truck program.

    Masterparts wanted over +_R4800 for 5 3years ago.
    Will hopefully not need those pistons soon..
    Engine I got from accident vehicle has 251000km from an auto 123, 617 complete cost R3000. Holding thumbs..
