    Few bits needed- 460

-460 Petrol/diesel cap with key, (Can get at agent, but $$$$!)

-front passenger side rubber in front of tire & under bumper,

-m-b insignia in front of radiator, (could make one if nobody has)

-drivers window winder mechanism, (fixed one before but too much effort)

-Good looking original rubber mat for the back

-Rear side vent cover (Can get at agent for R280)

-Number plate light fittings x3 (Non essential)

-(Also want) Alloys! 4 or 5 16" 5,5J or wider up to 7J.

-Original Jack (can get replacement cadac)

-Good looking bonnet for cheap cheap (Cape Town only or with transport suggestion...) (Non essential as mine is fixable)

Passenger side mirror piece with or without mirror (arm broken out of aluminium = probably fixable)

Anybody have any of these lying around please let me know?
    Thanks
    Leonard

Still need all of the above.... Added to that:

300GD- flywheel (any cond), starter (any cond), clutch (old is ok). Only need these last 3 items for the next few weeks after which I will find another solution. Thanks!

    Regards
    Leonard

Why do you need a starter? The GD240 Starter is the same at the 300GD starter.

Same as a 240d W123 starter? Wasnt there a slight difference between that and the GD?

There are 3 different starters listed for the W123 and W460 with two being the same - so in other words the W123 and W460 each have one ( out of three ) unique starters and two starters in common. No need to get another starter.

You can probably make a decent mat with some of these products:

    http://www.ctrubber.co.za/products/matting.php

Alloys are tricky. The 16" are narrower than the 15" in similar design and era. 15" were 7J but 16" were 6J I believe. See:

    http://www.rubicon-trail.com/G-Class/wheels/start.html

for education in G wheels. The agents have them for about 4k an alloy ex-Germany.

Otherwise if you are looking to get then new look 16" rims see:

    http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mer...ss_w463_alloys

I see they are offering steelies for GBP600 for 4 including shipping to SA.

Also bolts for alloys are not cheap and I think you can only get them from the agents or the site above. I seem to remember a number of ZAR2k for a set of alloy bolts for 4 wheels from MBSA. Steelies are better for offroading. Alloys look nicer.

I bought an orginal Weber Jack from Weber as the OEM for merc. I think it was ZAR1.3k?

    Re: Few bits needed- 460

Thanks again guys! Very valuable info for me here..

Mr Munga, a few things have changed since taking that one trip up the mountain:

The rims are no longer a pressing matter in any way, if something comes along, it would be great. The steelies are good for me.
(Alloys were R7500 each (16" 7J)and +- R135 a bolt from MB and lets face it, that is never going to happen. (excl. caps)) Will check out those links you put up! Thanks.

(If the bolt diameter is the same on cars for alloys I can get those for R25 ea, have not measured yet)

Weber, according to Hans is out of stock, but I have ordered one and no idea about expected delivery time. Price is exactly R1359 excl. vat.

Seems like the starter is sorted, (ta Peter & Andrew!)

Flywheel I have possibly (remotely possibly) located but frustratingly cannot check the flange for match as all my Shhh. is stored kms away..

Reckon I'll update the list sometime next week when I have more clarity (from my side) on specifics..

    Thanks again guys!

240/300GD metal engine mountings (more modern rectangular rubber, not round)

Leonard - If you have an old malfunctioning glow relay for 616, 617 or 603 etc bridge all glow plugs out and energize pin 50 with a manual button under the dash. The auto timer circuit normally causes trouble long before the relay itself does.

    A great anti theft device.
