    Angry Ntate Africa

Good day forum members, I am a new member and an owner of a Unimog, i recently moved from Mpumalanga to Rustenburg and used the N4 and received a speeding summons through the post with a photo of me and the Mog doing 147km we all know that that is not possible with a 416 or I suppose with any stock standard Unimog there is no fine payable but court appearance only my problem is how to proof this to the Authorities
    Any suggestions?

    Easy,

quickly remove the V16, put back the 416, take the Mog to court and invite the magistrate/cop to a test drive.

Alternatively submit the pictute from the speed gun to Guinness world records and use the proceeds to pay the fine.

I think its a very easy one. Just send them the specifications of a 416 showing that the top speed is.

Or alternatively go to the authorities, give them the keys and tell them to drive 147km/h.........and if they can't demand 5 cases of beer.

I always demand the calibration certificate of the specific camera that took the photo and if they can't according to law you will not be liable to pay the fine.

    Cheers

Also include a photo of the Mog. And tell them this Mercedes is not a sports model.

Was this an automated speedtrap or a manned one? I once was trapped in Heidelberg doing 135 km/h when I was in fact doing 100 km/h . I saw the speed trap lines ahead and slowed down from the speed limit of 120 to 100 to be sure and then they pulled me over saying I was doing 135. Checked the equipment and measured the lines - all OK - then I only realized afterwards that that speed was probably one recorded by another car previously. Some of these cops are corrupt and will try anything.

Send a PM to Mogfrog who lives in Heidelberg. Maybe he knows of somebody in the Copshop that can give some direction on this.

Seems the "camera" picked the bigger vehicle.

    Hi Ntate

Firstly - well done! You have the fastest mog of all of us by far and you have a pic to prove it!!

Regarding the photo - an ex colleague of mine who liked to fight each and every speeding fine he got always said that if there's another car on the picture, they can't prove that it was your vehicle that triggered the camera. I don't know how accurate his information was, but this may well be worth looking into - and in your case a valid argument as there is no way your mog could have been travelling at that speed - it must have been the other vehicle that triggered the camera.

    Regards
    paul
